Poetry break!

missroseroseJust a poem I wrote in Creative Writing class, based on one of my stories. I kind of liked the way it turned out...
While they beat the darkness back with fire,
Handicapped by lack of light,
We enshroud ourselves in the night
And prey on those who cannot see us coming.
After the feast, we congratulate ourselves,
We are the pinnacle, the top of the chain.
But eventually we dissipate away once again
Each to our own darkened corner of nowhere
To contemplate our life of solitude
And let the silence enfold us like the dark.
Probably not perfect yet, but there are a couple of parts that I like a lot...
