Afternoon at the movies
Mar. 4th, 2013 07:22 amWarm Bodies: Smarter than it had any right to be, and surprisingly sweet. Works better on a metaphorical level (love as an inspiration to rise out of apathy and change oneself for the better) than a literal one, but given the usual quality of the dreck aimed at teenagers in the movies, the fact that it even has a metaphorical level (plus a few entertainingly vicious bits of satire towards the beginning) sets it apart. Worth the matinee, though I'm a little miffed at myself that I didn't get the "R/Julie" reference until the balcony scene. B-
