Feeling kind of sleepy today. Probably has something to do with the fact that Dexter was yowling/chirping around 3 this morning. (Brian and I kind of looked at each other, and whatever lottery method we were using, I lost, because I had to get up and pick him up and carry him around and calm him down. At least he was much furrier and softer (and less loud) than a baby, for which I'd have to do the same thing.) Fortunately, there's this wonderful invention called "caffiene", and while I still wouldn't mind curling up in bed, I'm no longer in danger of falling asleep at the keyboard.

Brian's in Hoonah today, and apparently they've never heard of this new-fangled thing called the "internet" out there. So I probably won't get to talk to him until 5:30 or so, when his flight comes in. :(

In other news, I got to talk to my mother's not-boyfriend Therman today over MSN. He's been visiting her in Barrow, and needed some help setting up iTunes to work with my iPod that I sent her. She's apparently trying to decide whether she wants to marry him and keep working for ASRC, or whether she should go join the Scientology equivalent of the priesthood like she'd been planning. I don't really have a whole lot of an opinion either way - Therman seems like an all right sort, and he's certainly her match for intelligence; he might provide a nice stabilizing influence that she could probably use. On the other hand, if she really thinks she'd be happier at The Sea Org., I'm certainly not going to be the one to tell her "no". So I guess we'll see what she decides.

I also got the nicest compliment about my work this morning. I was in a pleasant early-morning haze, collating work orders or something equally brainless, when Wade (majority owner in the company; nice enough guy, if a bit gruff at times) came in the door and asked how I was doing. "Pretty well," I replied. "It's nice not to dread coming in to work in the morning." He laughed at that, and said "Well, it's nice having a competent receptionist, too."

Coming from him, I take that as very high praise. It really made my day, anyway. =)
