The nice thing about being really down in the dumps as compared to constant, low-level depression is that it doesn't last. I get really tired of being miserable really quickly. And now that I at least know about that other job (though I wish they'd taken less than a month to tell me), I can start looking for other employment. I've never had a problem finding a job when necessary (there are many advantages to being attractive, friendly and well-spoken), so most of the time it's just a question of whether the pay is decent and the schedule works for me. And the fact that I don't have this hanging over my head anymore makes me feel a *lot* happier.

Anyway, I put in a couple of applications yesterday. One was for part-time office help at a caviar plant (of all things)...the lady really seemed to like me, but it's only part-time and 24 hours a week, even at $10 an hour, isn't going to net me much in the way of tuition this summer. So I kept looking, and put in an application for a medical receptionist position - at a veterinary clinic. (I didn't know it was a vet clinic until I called them - the ad in the paper just said "Medical receptionist".) I'd really like to work there - they just moved into a new building and the architecture is quite nice, with lots of windows and nice teak wood trim that matches the furniture. The people all seem really nice, and the lady I talked to on the phone prior to applying said that so long as I'm friendly and have a positive attitude, they'd be more than willing to train me, and they may even be able to do part-time during the school season. Which would be awesome; while I didn't inquire about wages, I'm sure it has to pay better than $8 an hour, which is what I'd be making at the library. I should be hearing from them next week about an interview.

Meantime, I was looking for the Star Wars Gangsta Rap Animation to show Brian, and I came across the Special Edition made by the same folks. Same sound byte, but the animation is much better, probably due both to an increase in what Flash is capable of and a corresponding increase in the maker's skills. Amazing the difference a few years can make...

I've also got another sewing project in the works - I found some absolutely gorgeous lavender silk at JoAnn's, complete with little embroidered bunches of daisies on it. I have a nice simple bias skirt pattern that I'm using with it - if I can get it done in time, I think I'll wear it to my interview at the vet clinic.

And back I go to do...whatever it is I'm doing at the moment. =)

Here's a link to something Brian showed me that literally dropped my jaw. I'm sure almost everyone will recognize the clip - it's a re-rendering of one of the opening sequences of Final Fantasy VII, done on the Playstation 3. Keep in mind that that's supposed to be representative of what in-game, real-time rendering would look like, and prepare to be stunned.
