Well, the condo sold to someone else, and it doesn't look like we're going to qualify for a loan anyway, mostly because neither of us have much in the way of credit (I have none, and most of Brian's is either in his mother's name or is recent enough to not be on the books yet). It's kind of frustrating, but we figure we can look for an apartment for a year or so, get a lease (which will help the credit rating), and then try again in a year or so.

Meantime, life ticks right along - the weather's been trying to decide what season it is again, so there's been cold rain, warm rain, and even some sun in between. None of the lightning storms that the weather people keep promising us, though. Darn.

Brian's finally getting his Prelude (mostly) fixed. He finally got his headlights and taillights and whatnot in (yes, he ordered all the parts six months ago shortly after the car got munched - does he have some stories about trying to get things shipped to AK) so he's going to have the body shop punch the dings out of the headlight/taillight wells and repaint it, so at least it'll be street legal again. He can put the larger parts (hood, fenders, etc.) on as they get here, and when he has the $2500 saved he's going to get the rear quarter panel fixed. It's looking to be a rather slow process, but at least he'll be able to drive it again. It won't look great, but it's got a sunroof, and God knows we've had plenty of sunroof weather lately.

Meanwhile, looks like he's got a buyer for his Civic - my supervisor, Danél, has been car-less for a while, so I figured I'd ask if he was looking for a nice reliable non-fancy car, and he pretty much jumped on the opportunity. He hasn't test-driven it yet, and it's going to be at least a week or so until Brian gets a new taillight for it (someone broke the current one) and touches up the paint and whatnot, but it looks to be promising for all concerned.

As for me, I'm trying not to be too nervous about the library supervisor job thingy - the closing date for applications was yesterday, so they'll probably be calling me up in a week or two for an interview. My current job ends today, so I'm going to be job-less until I find out whether I get this one or not - a bit harrowing, considering I've only got $500 in savings, 1 and 1/2 more paychecks coming, and perhaps an apartment deposit coming up. Well, if I stick the $200 from this next paycheck in savings that's $700 (it'll be tight for a couple of weeks but since we're living with Brian's mother at the moment I can manage it), and Danél promised he'd email me ASAP if I don't get the position so I can either call up Four Seasons Marine or look for another job. So I'm just going to sit tight for now and trust that things will work out, one way or another. And in the meantime I can enjoy the nice weather.

Speaking of trusting that things will work out, I finally gave in and ordered myself an iPod mini - the last-generation ones were on sale for $169. I know it wasn't the smartest thing to do at this point, money-wise, but dammit, I've been wanting one for months. If I get the supervisor job, then yay, and if not, I'll call it celebrating my failure. And besides, it's not like I've ever had a hard time finding a job when I need it. At this point, it's mostly just a question of whether I'm going to get the one that I want and can keep for a few years.

And it gives me something to look forward to playing with while I'm broke. =)
