Am feeling slightly better than yesterday, though a couple of irritating things are still going on. For one thing, Ian did something to my wireless card so that it's not picking up a signal anymore, which means no more home internet. For another, while I managed to get my copy of Chrono Cross back, it's refusing to give me a visual when I leave the first scene that it loads. And, of course, I'm in a place in the game where there's only one exit and no way to change the scene to something different...*sigh* If anybody has a Playstation/PS2 I can borrow for a half-hour or so, please let me know.

On a slightly brighter note, I saw something rather amusing when I was walking down the hill to work today. As I came down the trail, I kept hearing this sort of metallic tapping sound, like someone was knocking on a piece of metal. I thought it was the construction people working down the hill, until I heard it again directly to my left. Upon observation, I realized there was a woodpecker (pretty one too, bright red head) sitting on the wooden light pole, trying to tap into the metal bracket that holds the light on. Poor little guy couldn't for the life of him figure out why he wasn't able to drill a hole in the metal...or maybe he just liked the sound that it made. Either way, it was both a rather cute and rather pitiful sight at the same time. I feel sort of sorry for him; after all, it's not his fault we cut down the trees and put up lights along the trail...Kind of reminds me of that Shel Silverstein poem:

The saddest thing that I ever did see,
was a woodpecker peckin' at a plastic tree.
He looked at me, "Friend," said he.
"Things aint as sweet as they used to be."

I would've liked to have gotten a picture of the guy. Unfortunately, I'd left my camera in my dorm room. Blast. =P
