Well, would you look at that?

Some of you might remember Miss Adora Belle, whom we adopted shortly after Mr. Jerry Brown died. She was a skittish cat from a not-so-happy background, and we did the best we could to give her a fat fuzzy home. Unfortunately, part of her history was that her previous owners had dumped her in the woods when they moved, and when we left for our honeymoon, despite our housesitter trying to make things comfortable for her, she seemed to decide that it was time to pre-empt us and ran off. One of the neighbors found her collar, and we found a dead mouse by the front stairs one morning, but other than that we saw no sign of her. Eventually we adopted Leo, and later on we moved, and that was pretty much that. But we still thought about her, and wondered if she'd survived the winter.
Well, thanks to a chain of friends, I got an email this morning with this picture attached:

Apparently one of our neighbors saw her sitting on a stump nearby yesterday and got a photo with their iPhone. It's hard to tell with the blurry resolution and all, but she doesn't look emaciated or anything, so I hope that means she's found a place to stay and enough food. I hate thinking of her out there in the cold, although she's obviously a cat who's used to taking care of herself. Still, it's heartwarming to see that she's all right.
