In case there's anyone left here who hasn't heard through other social media channels, I've been having something of a Time these past couple of weeks: broken ankle, surgery to install an external fixator while my skin healed, then a nasty post-surgical infection. I've been in the hospital on IV antibiotics for the past week; the good news is, the infection's gone, and I'm cleared for the second surgery (to actually screw my ankle back together) this morning. If all goes well I could be home by Monday afternoon.

I'll be back with more details eventually, but for the moment: please cross your fingers for me.

Oh no! That sounds like a Lot to deal with. I hope the second surgery does go well and you do get to go home Monday and things begin to mend. Fingers crossed!

Thank you. I ended up having to stay an extra day (pain control turned out to be a little tricky post-surgery...at least now I know how I feel on approximately fifteen different opioids?) but I'm home now, and with any luck I won't have to go back.

Although you and I are friends on Facebook, I don't check in there very thoroughly when I do check in, and I had missed all this news. I'm so sorry for all you've been through--you bet I will have all appendages crossed and magicks and prayers in the works for you.

Yeah, I've only posted about it here and there on Facebook. (Most of my posts have been on Tumblr, where I can rely on the algorithm to safely bury them after the first hour or two.) The surgery went smoothly and we've found a good pain control regimen that doesn't have me too loopy to function, which is about the best I can hope for. Here's to a quick recovery with no further complications.
