Upon acceptance

One month of hunting. Four weeks of being uninspired by floor plans that were a hundred variations on the theme of 'box'. One unassuming open house. One single perfect unit. One offer. One escalation clause, when the unit got multiple offers. One letter written to the owners, explaining how upon entering the unit I stopped in my tracks, how it was just right for my home business, how much we would enjoy hosting clients and friends and loved ones. Two days of biting my nails to the quick.

One accepted offer.

One month, approximately, of waiting, and lawyer-hiring, and loan discussions, and home inspection, and closing.

Two years of slightly leaner times while we adjust to the significantly higher monthly payment.

Here's to a decade or more of living in a beautiful, inspiring, perfect-for-us space.

Yeah, but at the same time I don't have any real personal experience with something like this. My previous 'hunt for space to exist' usually hinged on two questions--Can I afford to live here and also eat food, and will they let me give them money. I don't think I really have a visceral grasp of what you've been going through, you know?
