I have not seen the sumo matches in person, although I have heard about them! They seem to be more of an occasional thing in American events.
This event had combat matches in the antweight (1 pound), plastic antweight (1 pound, everything that touches another robot must be made of plastic, usually 3D printed), beetleweight (3 pound) and hobbyweight (12 pound) divisions. The plastic ant bouts were especially fun to watch, because they would just tear into each other - and rather than the drivers wincing and going "oh man, that's going to be tough to repair", they'd just laugh and shrug and say "it's cool, I printed five spares before I left". Very different attitude than when you're heat-bending titanium for wedges, haha.
