Targeted advertising + gender stereotyping = profit!

I'm sure most of you are familiar with the sidebar ads on Facebook pages, which use the information in your profile to advertise products or services that you're more likely to be interested in. Being a young(ish) woman, I tend to get a lot of weight-loss ads, along with some sci-fi fandom communities and whatnot. (My favorite one so far? "Join our Intellectual Lesbian Community". Rather amusingly specific, but hey - that's the joy of the internet.)

So, given recent events, Brian and I have changed our relationship status on our respective Facebook profiles to "Engaged".

As a result, I've been seeing a number of ads for wedding planners, wedding photographers, wedding dress discount retailers, and, of course, the ever present "You don't want to be a fat bride, do you?" diet products.

Brian's new ads? "Exotic Dancers In Your Area."

It wouldn't just be Rose doing the stripping, in my scenario!

If you're talking about getting her fiancee up on the pole... that's hugely unlikely and a very LOL scenario...

Or they could just be doing silly dances. I dunno.
