A Bisbee Christmas Cocktail
Bisbee Christmas
1.5 oz Pomegranate-Cranberry Juice
1.5 oz Grand Marnier
.75 oz lemon juice
1 oz simple syrup
2 sprigs fresh rosemary
Lemon sugar*
Rim cocktail glass with lemon sugar. Muddle leaves from one sprig of rosemary with syrup in bottom of shaker, then add remaining ingredients. Add ice and shake; strain into glass. Garnish with remaining sprig of rosemary.
This is based on some random recipe I Googled entitled "La Vie En Rouge", supposedly a take-off on the way Grand Marnier was packaged in an all-red bottle last holiday season. Given that Brian's a fan of the cranberry-pomegranate stuff, I figured that that was pretty holiday-ee, and used that instead of the original cranberry juice, plus changing the proportions around and adding the lemon sugar. Brian and my friend Dan helped me figure out the name; we thought it was appropriate as [a] citrus and pomegranate trees and rosemary grow all over Bisbee, and [b] the lemon sugar almost looks like snow, and supposedly it does snow around this time of year. Fingers crossed.
*Make lemon sugar by grating one lemon's worth of rind into 1/2 cup granulated sugar. The folks at Inspired Taste get the credit for this one, but I figure there's all kinds of things you can use it for aside from lemon drops...
