The obligatory Monday-morning blargh...

Had a nice quiet weekend with Brian. Well, mostly quiet - Friday night I took Brian to see Hell's Belles (an all-female AC/DC cover band) over at Marlintini's, which was a lot of fun, but certainly not quiet. I kind of wish I'd asked for earplugs - my hearing took a good 24 hours to recover. Guess I'm just not a trendy rocking twentysomething anymore...

Although, amusingly enough, when I went in to get tickets, the (rather attractive female) bartender asked me if I was going to wear my leather corset again (I'd worn it previously when we went to see Hedwig and the Angry Inch a couple of months ago). I'd been toying with the idea, but hadn't given it a whole lot of thought; however, with that kind of fanbase, who was I to complain? So the leather corset and pants did indeed get trotted out once more. (I know I keep promising you all pictures...one day they'll appear, really. Trust me. :) The concert itself was enjoyable, even though I wasn't really in the mood for moshing or anything along those lines. It was more than worth the $40, though, just to see Brian really and truly enjoying "Back in Black" and "Highway to Hell". Poor boy's been so stressed out lately, I think he'd almost forgotten how to have fun...

The rest of the weekend was, as advertised, quiet. I kept meaning to clean up the house and never quite got around to it, although I did pick up some Clorox to do the obligatory spring-cleaning kill-all-the-miniature-civilizations-that've-sprung-up-on-the-kitchen-countertops-over-the-winter scrubdown, which will likely take place tonight. I also sorted through my clothing and managed to come up with a pile of stuff I don't wear anymore, which is something I'd been meaning to do for a while. My poor shirt drawer looks so empty now...though I've been meaning to order a couple of shirts off eBay, which will help.

As for weekend culinary adventures, I need to update my recipe blog - my mother lent me the Stonewall Kitchen Cookbook and they had a recipe for French Toast stuffed with jam and cream cheese that is to die for. Expensive meal - we had to go to the Silverbow bakery and get some challah bread, since regular bread crumbles too easily when you stuff it - but it was so worth it. I think I'm going to make it again this weekend and invite some people over. I also made some of Conrad's guacamole, and it came out totally amazing. Now I'm going to have to go down to Costco and pick up a big bag of avocadoes so I can make lots of it...

And now, for an impressive bit of Monday-morning idiocy: I just had a telemarketer call trying to get BD's information. At least, I'm 99% sure it was a telemarketer - the phone number was out of state, and usually the only people who call trying to get info like that are in fact telemarketers. Anyway, I tell him I'm not giving out that info and hang up on him, like I usually do with telemarketers. Now for the impressive part - he calls me back and tries to shame me into giving him the info - "I actually already have the information right here but I was just trying to verify it and now I'm going to email your IT supervisor {note that he doesn't mention BD's name or any other details that wouldn't make me think he wasn't lying through his teeth} and tell him he has a secretary who hangs up on people--" at which point I just said "Go ahead" and hung up on him again. Idiot. Even if he did have the info and sent BD an email I'm pretty sure BD would be completely on my side, given some of the crap he's dealt with from telemarketers. (My favorite story was the guy who got incredibly insulted and called BD "obviously not a wise investor" since he wouldn't "do him the courtesy of at least listening" to his spiel...)

I don't understand how anyone who takes things personally like that can work in telemarketing...I half-hope that that was just his schtick to try and get info out of people. Because if he really does get that pissed off each and every time someone hangs up on him, he's probably got one heck of a miserable existence.

Welcome, Mr. Powned. May I take your coat?

I did a reverse phone lookup on that telemarketer jerk who harrassed me this morning. Armed with the company's contact email, I sent a very polite, professional and displeased note describing the incident and asking that the salesperson in question be dealt with. I figure it's a fifty-fifty chance that they'll actually care (and if they do care, another fifty-fifty chance they'll actually do anything about it), but at least I feel somewhat better. Not that I'd mind a bit if they sent me back an email saying he'd been reprimanded...
